Description
Polarized light offers additional possibilities for studying astronomical objects, besides photometry and spectroscopy techniques. Asymmetries of astronomical phenomena are particularly interesting considering polarimetric measurements. Examples of its applicability are shown in several phases of stellar evolution: for magnetic field mapping in interstellar dark clouds, for studies of circumstellar disks in young and evolutioned stars, and also for studies of supernovae and gamma rays burst.
