Radiative Symmetry Breaking, Freeze-In Dark Matter and Gravitational Waves in a Scale-Invariant $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$ Model 20m

We present ongoing work on a classically scale-invariant extension of the Standard Model based on the anomaly-free gauge symmetry $U(1)_{L_{\mu}-L_{\tau}}$. The model contains a complex scalar, responsible for the radiative breaking of the new gauge symmetry through the Gildener-Weinberg mechanism, a real singlet scalar, and a vector-like Dirac fermion playing the role of dark matter. The vacuum expectation value of the complex scalar induces the singlet vacuum through a scalar portal, leading dynamically to the dark-matter mass.

We discuss the resulting symmetry-breaking pattern, scalar and gauge spectra, and the main mechanisms for freeze-in production, including vector and scalar decays, scattering processes, and possible cascade production. Particular attention is given to the thermalization of the mediator states and to the impact of the phase transition and reheating on the final relic abundance. We also outline the connection with first-order phase-transition gravitational-wave signatures. The present contribution summarizes the theoretical setup and preliminary progress toward a complete phenomenological analysis.

Role of Laterally Shifted Dipoles in 3D Microstructure Formation of Janus Magnetic Colloids: Insights from Brownian Dynamics Simulations 20m

Self-assembly and dynamic reconfiguration are fundamental to designing nanostructured fluids with tunable microstructures. In this work, the three-dimensional microstructures of a dilute suspension of magnetic Janus colloids with a magnetic dipole laterally displaced from their center were studied using Brownian dynamics simulations. Microstructure and aggregation properties—including mean cluster size, nucleation and growth, cluster size distribution, orientational distribution, and effective cluster radius—were evaluated as a function of the dimensionless lateral dipolar shift (s). At small dipolar shifts (s → 0), chain- and ring-shaped structures form, which are typically observed in particles with a centered dipole (s = 0). However, at intermediate dipolar shifts (0.2 ≤ s ≤ 0.4), the structures mainly form vesicles that, in some cases, coexist with rings and spherical micelles. Finally, for s > 0.4, spherical micelles are observed that progressively decrease in size as s increases, until small clusters of 2 or 3 particles are reached. For intermediate and high dipolar shifts, the typical power-law aggregation behavior breaks down, and the system saturates at small clusters. This study suggests that new microstructured fluids can be designed by controlling the dipolar displacement of their component colloidal particles, thereby influencing their microstructure and consequent macroscopic properties.

The Hartle-Hawking Wave Function in Teleparallel Gravity 20m

We investigate the Hartle-Hawking no-boundary proposal within teleparallel gravity (TEGR) coupled to a self-interacting scalar field. Utilizing the covariant formulation where gravitational dynamics are encoded in the torsion tensor via the tetrad and an inertial spin connection, we construct the wave function of the universe via a Euclidean path integral over compact, regular tetrad fields.

Searching for Dark Photons at Sirius 20m

The Sirius synchrotron facility at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory is a state-of-the-art fourth-generation storage ring capable of providing high-intensity 3 GeV electron beams. In this talk, we propose leveraging this advanced infrastructure to drive high-luminosity electron-photon collisions by impinging a 1 eV monochromatic laser directly onto the accelerated beam. This unique collision geometry provides an ideal terrestrial platform to search for the dark photon ($A'$), a well-motivated gauge boson that acts as a kinetic-mixing portal between the Standard Model and an invisible dark sector. By exploiting the Dark Inverse Compton Scattering process, $\gamma e^{-} \rightarrow A^{\prime}e^{-}$, we can isolate this mediator through missing-energy signatures in the recoil electron spectrum and statistical deficits in the standard Compton photon flux. We will present our projected sensitivity demonstrating that, with one year of data acquisition, this setup can significantly reduce standard backgrounds to probe previously unexplored parameter space, placing competitive 95% C.L. upper bounds on the kinetic mixing parameter ($10^{-8} \le \epsilon \le 10^{-6}$) for dark photon masses up to 10 keV. Numerical Reconstruction of Dark-Matter Spikes around Black Holes and Their Connection to Gamma-Ray Observables 20m

The adiabatic growth of a black hole within a collisionless dark-matter halo can generate a steep central overdensity, or dark-matter spike, potentially enhancing annihilation signals by several orders of magnitude. We present an independent numerical reconstruction of the Gondolo–Silk formalism and its extension to intermediate-mass black holes by Bertone, Zentner, and Silk.

For the Gondolo–Silk scenario, the final density distribution is reconstructed from phase-space integrals while conserving angular momentum and radial action during the transition to a black-hole-dominated potential. We recover the isothermal solution and generate cusped profiles for different initial logarithmic slopes, including the full radial correction and spike-radius dependence.

Comparison with the published parametrization reveals normalization discrepancies for non-isothermal configurations, reaching approximately two orders of magnitude, while agreement improves in the isothermal limit.

We also implement the Bertone–Zentner–Silk framework with an NFW halo, annihilation plateau, inner cutoff, J-factor, and gamma-ray flux calculation. A parametric detector-response model then maps the predicted flux into reconstructed event distributions, providing an end-to-end framework for future gamma-ray sensitivity studies.

SWGO Sensitivity to Dark Matter Spikes Around Intermediate-Mass Black Holes 20m

The microscopic nature of dark matter (DM) remains one of the major open questions in particle physics and astrophysics. Weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) are among the most extensively studied candidates and may produce high-energy gamma rays through annihilation. Intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) are promising targets for indirect searches because black hole growth within a dark matter halo can generate steep density spikes, enhancing the annihilation signal.

We develop a framework to estimate the sensitivity of the Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO) to gamma rays from dark matter annihilation in spikes around IMBHs. The population and spatial distribution of IMBHs will be characterized using cosmological simulations, including the EAGLE catalog. For each scenario, we model the dark matter density profile and compute the differential gamma-ray flux as a function of the dark matter mass, annihilation cross section, and final state.

The predicted flux is folded with SWGO instrumental response functions to obtain reconstructed event distributions. We present preliminary results from the implementation and validation of the density profiles and flux calculations, providing the basis for future sensitivity limits in the (mχ,⟨σv⟩) parameter space and comparison with existing gamma-ray searches.

Cylindrical Renormalization and Brown–York Mass in Melvin and Schwarzschild–Melvin Spacetimes 20m

We study the Euclidean action and Brown–York quasilocal mass of the Melvin and Schwarzschild–
Melvin geometries in four-dimensional Einstein–Maxwell theory. Since these spacetimes do not
exhibit the usual spherically asymptotically flat behavior, we introduce a cylindrical regularization
scheme adapted to the magnetic axis. The boundary is placed at a fixed cylindrical radius, while
the longitudinal interval is scaled with the radial cutoff. A sequential limiting procedure is then
employed to preserve the cylindrical structure of the asymptotic region.
Within this framework, we show that the standard Mann–Marolf-type counterterm does not remove the relevant divergences. We instead propose a local boundary counterterm constructed
from the norm of the axial Killing vector, which captures the asymptotic behavior of the azimuthal
circumference. This prescription cancels the leading divergences without requiring background
        subtraction.
The renormalized Euclidean action and Brown–York mass both vanish for the pure Melvin universe.
For the Schwarzschild–Melvin geometry, the Euclidean action is one half of the product of the
inverse temperature and the black-hole mass parameter, while the Brown–York mass equals the
mass parameter. These results identify the Melvin universe as a zero-mass magnetic reference and
show that the finite black-hole mass is preserved after cylindrical renormalization.

A Robust Machine Learning Framework for Automated Detection of Solar Flare Effects in Distributed Magnetometer Networks 20m

Space-weather disturbances can disrupt radio communications, navigation, defense, spacecraft operations and modern critical technological systems, making reliable characterization of the near-Earth response to solar activity important. Distributed magnetometer networks continuously monitor this environment, but heterogeneous data quality, local observing conditions, and station-by-station analyses limit their scientific potential. We address this challenge for solar flare effects (SFEs), rapid ground magnetic responses to flare-enhanced ionospheric conductivity associated here with X-class flares. We present a scalable and interpretable machine-learning framework that integrates measurements from six geomagnetic stations while preserving their physical context. The workflow combines missing-data characterization, short-gap imputation, robust anomaly detection, baseline removal, station-wise normalization, and temporal, statistical, spectral, and multiscale feature extraction. These representations are augmented with flare properties, cross-station relationships, and local solar-geometry descriptors. Four ensemble classifiers are optimized, probability-calibrated, and evaluated using class-balanced metrics, calibration diagnostics, station-level comparisons, and controlled noise perturbations. The leading calibrated LightGBM model achieves 0.957 balanced accuracy, an F1 score of 0.943, a recall of 0.957, and a ROC-AUC of 0.978. Interpretable analysis shows that local solar illumination governs SFE detectability, while magnetic-response features characterize its strength and evolution. The framework establishes distributed magnetometers as a unified intelligent observatory for scalable, confidence-aware space-weather research.

Statistical Search for High-Mass Dimuon Resonances using ATLAS Open Data 20m

Heavy neutral gauge bosons (Z′) arise in well-motivated extensions of the Standard Model with additional U(1)′ symmetries and are important targets for direct searches at hadron colliders [1]. Motivated by the ATLAS high-mass dilepton resonance search [2], we develop an independent analysis of the process pp → Z′ → μ+μ− using ATLAS Run-2 Open Data.

The dimuon invariant mass is used as the main discriminating observable after selecting high-momentum muons. The steeply falling Standard Model background, dominated by Drell–Yan production, is modeled with alternative analytic parameterizations. Their robustness is evaluated through nested-model comparisons, spurious-signal studies, and signal-injection tests. Generic resonance hypotheses are then incorporated into a profile-likelihood framework, following standard LHC statistical methodology [3], to test the background-only hypothesis and estimate exclusion sensitivity.

This work provides a reproducible framework for high-mass resonance searches with public collider data and for model-independent tests of spin-1 physics beyond the Standard Model.

Dense GNSS Mapping of Equatorial Ionospheric 20m

The Instituto Geográfico Nacional of Peru operates a network of about 70 GNSS receivers distributed across a region that includes the magnetic equator and the Jicamarca Radio Observatory. This network provides dense sampling of total electron content in the space above Perú, where incoherent scatter radar and Digisonde measurements offer detailed information on the vertical structure and electrodynamics of the equatorial ionosphere. We present preliminar regional TEC products derived from the IGN observations and evaluate them through comparisons with vertical TEC estimated from Jicamarca radar electron density profiles and Digisonde measurements.

We also compare TEC time series produced from the IGN network with latitude and longitude bin products available through the Madrigal database. The larger number of simultaneous satellite receiver links allows the regional bins to be populated at shorter time intervals, reducing the temporal averaging required in areas with sparse coverage. This preserves variations that can be attenuated when observations are integrated over five minute intervals. The analysis focuses on data from 2025, while the available archive extends back approximately ten years. These observations provide spatial context for Jicamarca measurements and establish the preliminary results to a basis for regional studies of irregularity development and future nowcasting efforts.

Analytical determination and single-photon validation of QHQ wave-plate settings for prescribed polarization transformations 20m

We present an analytical method for determining the quarter-half-quarter (QHQ) wave-plate settings required to implement a prescribed $\mathrm{U}(2)$ polarization transformation, up to a physically irrelevant global phase. The method addresses the inverse problem in which the desired operation is specified as a unitary matrix rather than by Euler angles or optical-element orientations. By explicitly removing the global phase, extracting the corresponding $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ component, and determining the Euler parameters directly from the matrix elements, the prescription provides an analytical mapping from a target polarization transformation to experimentally accessible QHQ angles, without numerical optimization or iterative solution of nonlinear equations. We validate the method using heralded single photons generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Polarization state tomography and direct reconstruction of the implemented transformations show high output-state fidelities and transformation infidelities on the order of $10^{−3}$ for a representative set of polarization operations. We further demonstrate the implementation of prescribed polarization evolutions by reconstructing fixed-axis and varying-axis trajectories on the Poincaré sphere. These results establish the proposed analytical prescription as a practical tool for implementing matrix-defined polarization transformations in classical and quantum optical experiments.

Perturbative second-order optical susceptibility of bulk materials: a symmetry-enforced return to non-orthogonal localized basis sets 20m

The second-order optical susceptibility of semiconductors $\chi_{ijk}^{(2)}$ finds application in metrology, spectroscopy, telecommunications, material characterization, and quantum information. Pioneering calculations of $\chi_{ijk}^{(2)}$ utilized non-orthogonal Gaussian orbitals centered at atoms. That formulation transitioned into plane-wave-based algorithms as time went by. As of late, nevertheless, multiple tools for calculating optical susceptibilities have recast the problem using Wannier (i.e. localized) orbitals, making a comeback onto frameworks based on localized basis sets. Here, we present an approach for calculating $\chi_{ijk}^{(2)}$ reliant on numerical pseudo-atomic orbitals (PAOs) within perturbation theory in the velocity gauge. Its salient feature is a calculation of ‘Slater–Koster-like’ two-center integrals of the momentum operator in between PAOs identified by symmetry. The approach was successfully tested on paradigmatic cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) and gallium arsenide, for which linear responses are contributed as well.

Clines and the analytic structure of black hole perturbations 20m

We revisit black hole perturbations through Heun differential equations, focusing on Frobenius power-series solutions near regular singularities and their connection formulas. Central to our approach is the notion of a cline in the complex plane, which organizes singular points of the differential equations and remain invariant under Möbius transformations. Building on the cline structure we identified in black hole horizons, we carry out a systematic reduction and relocation of poles in the differential equation to obtain explicit representations of the solutions. We illustrate our approach by extracting the scalar perturbation solutions for the 7-dimensional Myers-Perry black hole and deriving the static scalar tidal Love numbers. These results suggest that clines expose a Möbius-invariant order within black hole perturbations, rendering black hole perturbation problems remarkably tractable.

Probing Quantum Decoherence in $\nu_{\mu}$ at NO$\nu$A 15m

Non-unitary evolution described by the Lindblad formalism offers a powerful pathway to search for physics beyond the Standard Model in neutrino propagation. This contribution explores energy-dependent quantum decoherence in the $\nu_\mu \rightarrow \nu_\mu$ disappearance channel, using public reconstructed spectra from the NO$\nu$A experiment at an 810 km baseline. We investigate how cumulative damping effects alter the survival probability around the primary oscillation minimum under distinct energy-scaling scenarios ($n = -1$ and $n = 2$). Rather than assuming standard propagation a priori, we evaluate the compatibility of the NO$\nu$A spectral data with non-standard decoherence phenomena and discuss the constraints imposed on the damping parameter $\gamma_{0}$.
Furthermore, we outline the implications of these constraints for future long-baseline facilities like DUNE and broader searches for new physics at SHiP. This presentation is based on our recently published work in an IOP journal.

Software to forecast the tsunami parameters from a database of pre-simulated seismic unit sources 20m

In this research we have implemented a software to forecast the parameters of a tsunami, such as the arrival time of the first tsunami wave and the maximum wave height in tidal stations of the Peruvian coast, from a database of pre-computed synthetic tsunami waveforms (or Green functions) obtained from numerical simulation of seismic unit sources (dimension: 50×50 km2) for subduction zones from southern Chile to northern Mexico, with a bathymetry resolution of 30 s (927 m). The resulting tsunami waveform is obtained from the superposition of synthetic marigrams corresponding to several seismic unit sources contained in the seismic source geometry. The numerical model was applied to the Chilean tsunami of April 1, 2014 with satisfactory results; in the case of the Arica tidal station an error of 3.5% was obtained.

Investigating the impact of anisotropy on the fundamental mode of nonradial oscillations in neutron stars within a fully general relativistic framework 20m

The effects of anisotropy on the fundamental (f-) mode oscillation frequency and the dimensionless tidal deformability of neutron stars are investigated within a fully general relativistic framework. To this end, the equations governing nonradial stellar oscillations and tidal deformability are reformulated from their conventional expressions to incorporate an anisotropic contribution. The matter composing the compact star is described by an equation of state obtained by connecting microscopic nuclear physics calculations with perturbative QCD results through a piecewise-polytropic interpolation scheme. The anisotropy is modeled using a local prescription that remains regular throughout the stellar interior and vanishes at both the center and the surface. Our results indicate that anisotropy can produce appreciable modifications in both the f-mode frequency and the dimensionless tidal deformability. Finally, we examine the relationship between the anisotropy parameter and the constraints on dimensionless tidal deformability derived from the GW170817 gravitational-wave event.
