Base Space and Target Space Entanglement 30m

In theories of quantum gravity it is challenging to define notions of  quantum entanglement between different regions of space. We will argue that a precise notion is, however, possible in gravitational theories which are holographically dual to usual quantum field theories in some fixed background living in lower number of dimensions. This is provided by the notion of "target space entanglement". This talk will discuss the basic aspects of this notion and a conjecture about the entanglement entropy in the bulk.

ANALOGUE OF SUPERRADIANCE EFFECT IN ACOUSTIC BLACK HOLE IN THE PRESENCE OF DISCLINATION 10m

Acoustic analogue of a black hole has been a lot studied in the literature as a concrete laboratory model for probe several aspects of curved space quantum field theory.
In 1981, Unruh showed that if a fluid is barotropic and inviscid, and the flow of the fluid is irrotational, the equation of motion that fluctuation of the velocity potential of acoustic disturbance obeys, is identical to that of a minimally coupled massless scalar field propagating in an effective curved spacetime Loretizian geometry, which can simulate
        an artificial black hole.
In this work we invstigate the possibility of the acoustic analogue of a phenomenon like superradiance, that is, the amplification of a sound wave by reflection from the ergo-region of a rotating acoustic black hole in the fluid "draining bathtub" model in the presence of a desclination be amplified or reduced in agreement with the value of the deficit angle.

Integral form of Yang-Mills equations and its gauge invariant conserved charges 30m

Despite the fact that the integral form of the equations of classical electrodynamics is well known, the same is not true for non-abelian gauge theories. In this talk we present the integral form of the classical Yang-Mills equations in the presence of sources and then use it to solve the long standing problem of constructing non-abelian electric and magnetic conserved charges, for any field configuration, which are invariant under general gauge transformations. The construction is based on concepts in loop spaces and on a generalization of the non-abelian Stokes theorem for two-form connections, which resemble the techniques used in integrable field theories. The charges are explicitly evaluated

for monopoles and dyons. In the case of the Wu-Yang monopole the integral equations imply that such a solution needs a unique point source to be self-consistent. Our results
are important in the understanding of global properties of non-abelian gauge theories.

Worldline pure spinor vertex operators for 11D supergravity 30m

The pure spinor formalism has been shown to be extremely useful for quantizing superstrings and computing scattering amplitudes in a manifestly super-Poincaré covariant way. An 11D generalization gave rise to the pure spinor description of supermembranes whose massless spectrum reproduces 11D supergravity. In this talk, I will discuss how the infinite tension limit of the pure spinor supermembrane can be used for computing 11D supergravity scattering amplitudes in a manifestly supersymmetric way.

Epidemic simulation of Covid-19 virus in some countries, using a 2D cellular automata 10m

An epidemic simulation of Covid-19 virus was made, it was done using cellular automatas wich have been used for epidemic studies since their creation in XX century. Under the current situation due to the Covid-19 virus there have been various estimates of the advance of the decease using a lot of methods, however most of them fail to calculate the total number of not-sick infected. Based on that, real data of some countries population and the respective fractions of health, sick and infected people of them was taken and using a Hodge-Podge Machine (2D cellular automata used for chemistry reactions study) consisting of a mesh where each cell represents a fraction of the studied population, the searched simulation was made. This was made with the goal of finding a easy, viable, accesible and cheap method to estimate the total number of infected people relative to the total population of a determinated studied region.

Exposure of LR-115 detectors at different distances from a wall 10m

This work presents the results of the radon (Rn-222) measurements made with LR-115 solid state detectors in bare mode at different distances from two opposite walls within two rooms in a home located in the north of Lima. The rooms differ by the ventilation rate, during this work one of them remains completely closed and in the other a window is kept open. The exposure time is 2 months. Subsequently, all the detectors are chemically etched in NaOH 2.5 M solution at 60°C for 90 minutes, following a very well established protocol for indoor radon survey by the Research Group on Techniques of Nuclear Tracks of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, and later read automatically by Politrack system. Finally, the results show that the average radon concentration (Rn-222) in each room is similar. Besides, the radon concentrations vary for each measured position and has an oscillating behavior that decreases as the distance from the wall increases. Specifically, the highest radon concentrations are observed at 15 cm and 20 cm away from the wall. Lowest radon concentrations are observed at 30 cm and 45 cm away from the wall.

Memory kernel and Divisibility of Gaussian Collisional Models [1] 10m

Memory effects in open systems dynamics have been the subject of significant interest in the last decades. Methods quantifying this effect, however, are often difficult to compute and lack analytical insight. With this in mind, we consider Gaussian collisional models, where non-Markovianity is introduced by means of interactions between neighboring environments. We show that the dynamics can be cast in terms of a Markovian Embedding of the covariance matrix, which yields closed form expressions for the memory kernel and the CP-divisibility monotone. Our results aim to help understand the intricate mechanisms behind memory effects in the quantum domain.

SUBMILIMETRIC OPACITY VARIABILITY IN MINUTE SCALES 10m

Water vapor is the main cause of atmospheric attenuation at high frequencies. The
measurement of atmospheric opacity (τ ) is important because it allows us to obtain the
true brightness temperature of an astrophysical object. Melo et al. (2005), presented
the method of brightness of the Sun to determine atmospheric opacity in sub-millimeter
waves. Then, using the same method Cornejo et al. (2017) estimated the opacity at
212 and 405 GHz for the period of 2006 and 2014. The measurements were made with
the Solar Telescope for Sub-Metallic Waves (SST), at the El Leoncito Astronomical
Complex (CASLEO). In this work we will use a new method to calculate the variation
of opacity in time scales from minutes to hours. We will use the opacities determined
by the method of brightness as an input parameter, on days when the Sun does not
have any active regions. The method assumes that any observed intensity variation is
then due to τ variations in the observation direction.

Physical mechanisms and processes during the 2017 coastal El Niño and its influence on the vertical thermohaline structure applying the principles of the GFD: Case study of the North Coast of Peru. 10m

        ABSTRACT

The occurrence of the El Niño event brings with it serious implications on a global scale, generating changes in the coastal-oceanic, terrestrial and atmospheric systems [1]; such as the rise in sea temperature, heavy rains, droughts, among others [2]; which cause serious socio-economic problems in countries linked to the equatorial zone. In Peru, these problems were evident during the 2017 coastal El Niño [3]; in this context, it is necessary to carry out studies that help to expand the knowledge of the scenarios, mechanisms, physical processes and the evolution of the event in order to obtain prevention measures.

Therefore, in this work we present the results on the application of partial differential equations (PDEs) of geophysical fluid dynamics (GFD) related to equilibrium (geostrophic balance), dynamics forced by the wind, processes in the mixing, heat flux, and stratification in the vertical thermohaline structure (VTHS). Likewise, the influence during the 2017 coastal El Niño on the VTHS is described, based on the dynamic approximations in the hydro-thermodynamic equations of movement and continuity, with the purpose of estimating the variations offshore of the physical properties: temperature, salinity, density and process mechanisms.

Keywords: The 2017 coastal El Niño, thermohaline vertical structure, principles of the GFD.

Urban archaeo-geophysics a challenge for the sustainable development of our towns. The case of Cusco in Peru 20m

Urban archeology represents the most suitable tool to start a global analysis of the historical, political and social events that affected cities over time. In this work, urban geophysics is used as a tool to explore the archeologically sensitive areas that are located inside the subsoil of the ancient city of Cusco. This objective takes shape after that inca walls were found in an area of the Plaza de Armas during some maintenance works of the road pavement and technological networks. The investigations carried out with the georadar highlight the difficulty of discriminating between archaeological features and modern structures and the need to develop ad hoc procedures for the processing and interpretation of geophysical data to support urban archeology.

Ultrafast contactless charging of electrical vehicles 20m

In the last decade, wireless transfer of energy using resonant inductive systems has found many applications, from contactless charging of cell phones and medical implants to recharging electric ferries and boats. For the next decade, the most promising area for this technology is estimated to be charging batteries of electric cars and buses. Currently this charging operation is made by galvanic contact using cables that need to be connected to charging poles distributed in cities that have adopted this system. The charging is still slow (a few hours) and impractical. Yet, soon drivers are going to demand very fast (a few minutes) charging, without leaving the vehicle and effective even in heavy rain and storms. In this talk, a resonant inductive device and system based in a split-core medium frequency transformer is proposed which can fulfill these demands. For the core, a soft magnetic material is used with the following main characteristics: high saturation point (Bsat > ca. 1.2 T), high relative permeability (µr > ca. 10,000) and high electrical resistance at operation frequencies, and thus low losses (< ca. 10 W/kg). Examples of suitable materials are soft-magnetic ferrites, amorphous or nanocrystalline steel, or FINEMET™, specially treated to avoid brittleness if necessary. The operation frequency is between 10 kHz and 100 kHz (preferable of 20 kHz and 85 kHz, which are the frequencies suggested in present wireless power transfer standards). The coils are made of Litz wire windings, to minimize skin and proximity effect losses at high frequencies. The presented solution is also applicable to futuristic autonomous vehicle charging, where no human intervention is required.

A finely tuned molecular motor: power generation and mechanical efficiency of a protein degradation machine 20m

Molecular motors transduce chemical energy –usually from ATP hydrolysis– into directed motion and mechanical work, which is used to perform key functions in almost every cellular process. Molecular motors are particularly important in the maintenance of cellular proteostasis, i.e. the equilibrium between protein synthesis and degradation. ATP-dependent proteases of the AAA+ family, such as ClpXP from Escherichia coli and the eukaryotic 26S proteasome, play a central role in protein degradation. Given its extensive biochemical and structural characterization, ClpXP is a paradigm for the study of the operating principles of eukaryotic and prokaryotic protease machines of the AAA+ family. However, the molecular mechanism by which ClpXP couples the energy from ATP hydrolysis into mechanical work is still poorly understood. Here we used biochemical and single-molecule assays with optical tweezers to directly probe the operation of ClpXP as it unfolds and translocates its protein substrate. We observe that ClpXP operates with constant “rpm” but uses different “gears”, and provide insights about how evolution has tuned the structure and sequence of this motor to maximize its power production and mechanical efficiency.

Manipulation of spin currents with synthetic antferromagnets 20m

The adaptability of synthetic antiferromagnets (SAF) in spintronic devices based on spin Hall effects has emerged during the last years. In this work we report the use of a SAF (antiferromagnetically exchange coupled Co/Ru/Co) as a spin current injector and the observation of spin pumping and inverse spin Hall effect in [SAF]/Pt heterostructures [1,2]. By exploiting the interlayer exchange coupling strength (oscillatory RKKY-like coupling) and the spin-flop transition in the magnetization process of the SAF it is possible to rotate the magnetization of the Co layers at given angles away from the external magnetic field direction in resonance condition. The misalignment due to the spin-flop magnetization process combined with the spin pumping and the inverse spin Hall effect, allow to control and detect the polarization direction of the spin current pumped into the Pt. The control of the polarization direction of the spin current was also achieved by controlling the interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) via variations in the Ru spacer in the SAF-Pt system. By controlling the IEC strength and the spin flop transition in the magnetization process, it is also possible to produce spin currents polarized in different directions. Our results can lead to important advances in hybrid spintronic devices with improved functionalities, particularly the ability to control the polarization direction of spin currents and also the change of the sign of the inverse spin Hall effect signal induced in a metallic layer with the strong spin-orbit interaction.

        Low-temperature quantum transport in semiconductor/superconductor devices 30m

I will show concluded and current experimental work done at the Center for Quantum Devices, Copenhagen [1,2] and at CEA, Grenoble [3,4]. The work is based on electrical measurements at (sub-Kelvin) dilution-refrigerator temperatures on devices based on individual semiconductor nanowires with epitaxially-grown superconductors. Single electron spins can be confined in the nanowires, and their influence on the superconductors can be studied through their effect on the Josephson supercurrent and the discrete excitations within the superconducting gap.

        Spin-orbit phenomena in graphene-based spin devices 30m

Two dimensional materials have provided unique insights in condensed matter physics, yielding a multitude of novel effects. Among them, graphene has shown to be an outstanding material owing to its exceptional and tunable electrical properties. In graphene, spin information can propagate over long distances and also be manipulated by proximity induced phenomena [1,2,3], providing thus the building blocks for developing graphene-based spintronic devices.

In this talk, I will discuss recent spin transport experiments in van der Waals heterostructures consisting of graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides. First, I will describe how proximity induced spin-orbit effects lead to an anisotropic spin dynamics in graphene and enable to manipulate spin transport. In the second part, I will show how spin-orbit proximity effects can induce an efficient generation and detection of spin currents, that is comparable to the largest reported to date. These findings provide a novel route for spin generation free from magnetic materials and pave the way for the development of ultra-compact and low power consumption magnetic memory devices.

Estimation of thunderstorms occurrence from lightning cluster recorded by WWLLN network and its comparison with the ‘universal’ Carnegie curve 10m

Continuous global monitoring of lightning has been important in recent years to study a possible relationship with global warming. Consequently, several networks to detect lightning have been installed at various spatial scales (regional and global). One of these networks is the World Wide Lightning Location Network (WWLLN), which has been monitoring lightnings since 2003. It is also important to monitor the occurrence of thunderstorms and this can be achieved by detecting lightning clusters. In this work, we propose a lightning grouping methodology, in order to estimate the number of electrical storms in the world. Our methodology defines the spatial scale of thunderstorms as a lightning clusters detected every hour, in a region of 0.5 x 0.5 degrees2. Then, we calculate monthly, seasonal and annual averaged daily curves of the number of thunderstorms. The data set under study includes 2012 and 2013. Our methodology is validated by comparing with the ‘universal’ Carnegie curve (R=0.94). Additionally, we find that this linear correlation is higher in spring (R=0.98) and lower in winter (R= 0.75).

STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRONIC STUDY OF Cu2S THIN FILMS FOR THEIR POTENTIAL APPLICATION TO THE MANUFACTURE OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR CELLS 10m

Remarkable progress has been made in the last years to the use solar energy as a renewable and clean energy source. In this regard, Cu2S is a promising material for solar cell devices due to their electronic and optical properties. In this work, polycrystalline Cu2S films were grown onto borosilicate glass substrates with different thicknesses tuning by the deposition time at room temperature using a DC sputtering method. The films were thermally annealed (TA) at temperatures of 100 °C, 200 °C, and 300 °C in a high vacuum chamber for 1 hours . XRD results revealed the presence of the chalcocite phase (Cu2S) in the as-grown film, meanwhile, covellite (CuS) and chalcocite phases were found in the TA films. Sheet resistance (Rs) exhibits a decrease as the thickness increases. Also, the thermal treatment in high vacuum improves the crystallinity and decreases the sheet resistance of the films. We believe that our findings are important and potentially useful to improve the properties of the films for technological applications.

Effect of surface properties and particle-particle interaction on the magnetic properties of Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with oleic acid 10m

Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) coated with organic material are of considerable interest in many biomedical applications, such as magnetic resonance imaging, drug administration, magneto-impedance tumor detection, magnetic hyperthermia, among others. Additionally, these nanostructured systems experience changes in their magnetic properties due to the reduced size, crystallite shape, coating quality, as well as particle-particle interactions. Besides that, the mechanisms are not well understood yet. This work reports the effects of surface properties and particle-particle interaction on the magnetic properties of magnetite nanoparticles coated with oleic acid (Fe3O4@OA). The Fe3O4@OA NPs with three different sizes were prepared by a thermal decomposition method. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy revealed that the NPs have good crystallinity and almost spherical and polyhedral shapes. Infrared spectroscopy indicated that OA molecules are bound to the NPs surfaces via bidentate bonds (chelating and/or bridging). Likewise, the thermogravimetric analysis confirmed the presence of weakly and strongly bond OA molecules and allowed to quantify the NPs surface coating efficiency. On the other hand, magnetization curves are consistent with a core/shell structure formed likely by magnetite/maghemite phases, and the probable coexistence of iron ions in low- and high-spin states at the surface (shell) was evidenced. The magnetic characterizations show that, depending on the OA coating quality, it is possible to control the particle-particle separation distance, thus reducing particle agglomeration and, consequently, particle-particle interactions.

Understanding the CMB Temperature Spectrum 10m

The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is an open window to the early Universe. To compute the CMB Spectrum we need to perturb the FLRW metric that describes a homogeneous and isotropic universe at large scales. Furthermore, at early times photons have interacted with electrons by Compton scattering, before traveling through the space-time toward us. This interaction produces a perturbation in the temperature of the photons and this can be described by the Boltzmann equation. Solving these equations we can find the CMB Temperature Power Spectrum, in which their peaks are related to the shape and matter components of our universe. In this work, we will show how we can compute the quantities that describe the current percent of matter density, energy density, and shape of the current universe.

Conformal transformations in cosmological models 10m

        Abstract:
In the current context of modern cosmology, many models require the incorporation of non-minimally coupled scalar fields to the Ricci curvature scalar in order to explain some properties of the Universe on large scales [1]. These scalar-tensor theory models can be described by a generic action [2].
A frame transformation in scalar-tensor theories is equivalent to a local redefinition of the metric, which does not affect the physical results and therefore these conformal transformations can be seen as space-time dependent unit transformations [3].
In the present work it is shown that, if a scalar field is coupled in a non-minimally way, then a transformation can be carried out according to a new framework in which both the gravitational part of the Lagrangian and the kinetic term for the field (rescaled) assume a canonical form.

The sound horizon scale at baryon drag epoch 30m

We show different forms to calculate the sound horizon scale at baryon
drag epoch, $r_{drag}$, a physical parameter considered a cosmological
standard ruler. This important parameter supports recent studies of the
large-scale structure of the Universe, including the dynamics of its evolution.
For this, one of the aims of current astronomical surveys is to know this
parameter with high precision. Here we make explicit the way this parameter
is calculated in the literature using cosmological parameters and assuming
LCDM cosmological model hypotheses. Finally, we show how it can be calculated
using data measured within a weakly cosmological-dependent approach.

Universe in a black hole with spin and torsion 30m

The conservation law for the total (orbital and spin) angular momentum of a Dirac particle in the presence of gravity requires that spacetime is not only curved, but also has a nonzero torsion.
The coupling between the spin and torsion in the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravity generates gravitational repulsion at extremely high densities.
We consider gravitational collapse of a spin-fluid sphere into a black hole.
We show that a singularity is replaced with a nonsingular bounce if there is no shear.
We also show that torsion and quantum particle production during contraction avoid a singularity even if shear is present.
Particle production during expansion can generate a finite period of inflation and produce enormous amounts of matter.
The resulting closed universe on the other side of the event horizon may have several bounces.
Such a universe is oscillatory, with each cycle larger in size then the previous cycle, until it reaches the cosmological size and expands indefinitely.
Our universe might have therefore originated from a black hole.

A constrained fit of the valence transversity distributions from dihadron production 10m

We present a constrained analysis of the valence transversity Parton Distribution Function, one of the three distributions of quarks and gluons inside the proton at different energy values. The data is extracted from dihadron production in semi-inclusive DIS, an electron-proton interaction. The present analysis implements further constraints through the method of Lagrange multipliers instead of relying on the explicit fulfillment of theoretical limits —the Soffer bound—, as it is usual to do in these extractions. The results are quantitatively comparable to previous analyses; qualitatively, it is an increased flexibility in the functional form of the transversity distribution.

Theoretical and simulation study of gamma intiated particle showers in the atmosphere 10m

In the present work, we carry out simulations to study the development of particle showers generated by photons as primary cosmic rays. We aim to determine whether or not it is possible to detect a Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) generated by an external source to the Earth with a Cherenkov detector placed at 4600 msnm.

We compare the results of the simulations with theoretical models that describe the behavior of the showers at the detector level. In addition, we will be able to establish the characteristics of a detector to be implemented in the future.

We used ARTI, the LAGO-CORSIKA simulation chain in order to generate the gamma initiated particle showers in the atmosphere to obtain the information of the secondaries that reach the site of study.

Traversable wormholes, linearized perturbations of BTZ metrics and ANEC violation 10m

In this work, we investigate various BTZ spacetimes [1] affected by linearized spherically symmetric perturbations of the metric analyzing the effects in the causal structure. In particular, we found that null rays can reach disconnected causal regions in the original background if there exists a violation of the averaged null energy condition (ANEC), generating a traversable wormhole [2]. The traversability of such wormholes is supported by recent ideas constructed in the context of the AdS/CFT Correspondence [3]. Both causal inconsistencies (closed time-like curves, time-traveling, warp drives, etc.) and exotic matter are absent in this specific setup.

Formalismo Hamiltoniano de la Relatividad General 10m

        Abstract:

The usual approach for the development of general relativity as a field theory is based on a Lagrangian formulation. But for some purposes (numerical relativity and canonical quantization) an approach from the point of view of the Hamiltonian formalism is preferable since it naturally describes the evolution of fields. Because this formulation requires the choice of a temporal variable, an explicit separation of space-time in spatial coordinates and a temporal coordinate is necessary [1].

The 3 + 1 formalism of general relativity consists of the decomposition of space-time into a family of space-type hypersurfaces (Cauchy surfaces) characterized by a time coordinate [2]. The variables used to describe this development are the induced metric tensor of said hypersurfaces, the displacement vector and the span function, with which it is possible to construct a Hamiltonian and express the equations of general relativity in the form of Hamilton equations [3] .

In the present work the development of the 3 + 1 formalism of general relativity is shown, from which we proceed to the construction of the Hamiltonian of the theory.

Effect of the annealing temperature and atmosphere on the optical and electrical properties of tin-doped indium oxide thin films. 10m

Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs) coatings play an important role in several optoelectronic applications, such as transparent electrodes in liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), solar cells, and light-emitting diodes [1-3]. One of the most prominent TCOs for decades has been tin-doped indium oxide, also known as indium tin oxide or simply ITO [4]. This material has a high optical transmittance in the visible spectral range and an electrical resistivity in the order of $10^{-4}\Omega$cm. This is owing to its wide optical bandgap and the degenerated states of the semiconductor allowing a relatively high charge density whilst keeping the optical transparency. These material properties can be tailored by modifying the charged defects density, typically oxygen vacancies. In particular, the tailoring can be performed by post-deposition thermal treatments. In this work, a systematic study regarding the influence of post-deposition annealing treatments on the structural, electrical and optical properties of sputtered ITO thin films is presented. The films were deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering on fused silica substrates using a high-density ITO target (90 wt% In$_2$O$_3$ and 10 wt% SnO$_2$). Annealing treatments were carried out in argon or air atmospheres in order to induce the variation of the optoelectronic properties. Optical transmittance, X-ray diffraction, elemental composition and electrical resistivity measurements were performed after each annealing step. Annealing in both argon and air increased the grain size with increasing temperature. After the annealing up 400°C, the electrical resistivity decreases in both atmospheres. For higher temperatures, annealing in air increases the resistivity while annealing in argon decreases the resistivity of the material. In this way, the impact of the atmosphere and annealing temperature on the electrical resistivity was assessed. The lowest resistivity obtained in this work was 2.5$\times10^{-4}\Omega$cm after heating in argon at 500°C. The optical transmittance of the film in the visible range did not show any noticeable differences in both argon and air annealing. Optical parameters, such as refractive index, absorption coefficient, band gap and Urbach energy were evaluated accordingly at each annealing temperature.

Thermodynamically stable asymptotically flat hairy black holes with a dilaton potential 20m

We present a detailed analysis of the thermodynamics of exact asymptotically
flat hairy black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We compute the regularized
action, quasilocal stress tensor, and conserved charges by using a ‘counterterm method’
similar to the one extensively used in the AdS-CFT duality. In the presence of a non-trivial
dilaton potential that vanishes at the boundary we prove that, for some range of parameters,
there exist thermodynamically stable black holes in the grand canonical and canonical
        ensembles.

We will review them by presenting their theoretical background, experimental motivation, and some applications. Recently, this approach has received relevant attention due in part to its analogy to the electromagnetic theory.

        Primordial Non-Gaussianities of inflationary step-like models 30m

We use Minkowski Functionals (MF) to explore the possible presence of
non-Gaussian signatures in the recently released cosmic microwave background
(CMB) Planck maps. In particular, we investigate MF outcomes for two sets of
simulated CMB maps: one seeded by the $\Lambda$CDM concordance model, another
seeded by the 'best-fit' CMB angular power spectrum. By 'best-fit' we mean
a simulated CMB spectrum seeded by an inflationary model that well reproduce
the observed low-$\ell$ features of the CMB temperature power spectrum.
In this way, we obtain the spurious signal introduced by the power
spectra with different shapes, signal to be taken into account in the
        corresponding MF analyses.
Interestingly, we investigate the response of the four MF (i.e., \textit{Area, Perimeter, Genus},
and \textit{$N_{clusters}$}) for several sets of simulated maps. Our analysis
confirm that, as already reported in the literature, the Perimeter exhibits
the best performance. Moreover, our results show that the Perimeter obtained
from the Planck maps (2015) is better fitted by the simulated CMB maps seeded
by the angular power spectrum with low-$\ell$ features with respect to the
curves obtained from the CMB maps seeded by the $\Lambda$CDM model.

Fluid pulsation modes from strange stars in a higher-dimensional space-time 20m

In this work, we make the first step to derive non-radial pulsation equations in extra dimensions and investigate how the $f$- and $p_1$-mode frequencies of strange quark stars, within the Cowling approximation, change with the number of dimensions. In this regard, the study is performed by solving numerically the non-radial pulsation equations, adjusted for a $d$-dimensional space-time $(d\geq4)$. We connect the interior to a Schwarzschild-Tangherlini exterior metric and analyze the $f$- and $p_1$- mode frequencies. We found that the frequencies could become higher than those found in four-dimensional space-time. The $f$-mode frequency is essentially constant and only for large gravitational radius values grows monotonically and fast with the gravitational radius. In a gravitational radius range, where $f$-mode frequencies are constant, they increase for space-time dimensions $4\leq d\leq6$ and decrease for $d\geq7$. Regarding $p_1$-mode frequencies they are always larger for higher dimensions and decay monotonically with the increase of the gravitational radius. In extra dimensions, as it happens for four-dimensional space-time, we found $p_1$-mode frequencies are always larger than the $f$-modes ones. In the Newtonian gravity, for a homogeneous star in $d$ dimensions, we observe that the $f$-mode eigenfrequencies are constant and given by the relation $\omega^2=l\, M\, G_d/R^{d-1}$; where $l$ represents the spherical harmonic index, $M\,G_d$ being the total star mass and $R$ the stellar radius. For some gravitational radius interval, we show that a homogeneous star in Newtonian gravity is a good approximation to investigate the $f$-mode frequency of strange stars in the relativistic frame. In each dimension considered, we find that the $f$-mode frequencies are essentially constant since they depend on the average star density that is almost constant for strange quark stars. Moreover, for a fixed energy density, we also find that the $f$-mode frequency changes with the volume of the unitary sphere in $d-1$ dimension, which attains its maximum value at $d=6$. In neutron stars in four-dimensions, where the average energy density of the star increase with the central energy density, the $f$-mode frequencies will increase with the star mass. Thus, the possibility of measure in gravitational wave detectors the $f$-mode oscillation frequency coming from compact stars with different pulsar masses and observe almost constant frequency values, for $d=4$, in the range $f\sim2-3\,[\rm kHz]$ with $ M\leq1.8M_\odot$, it would be a good signature of the existence of strange quark stars that still lack an astronomical confirmation. Finally, if the $f$-mode frequencies are still constant and greater than $d=4$ range for larger total masses, it would be an evidence that quarks can propagate in extra space-time dimensions and strange quarks stars in $d$ dimension could exist.

        κ-Exponential Inflation 20m

We investigate a possible inflationary scenario where the expantion is driven by a slow evolution homogeneous single scalar field, whose potential V(φ) is given by a generalized exponential function taken from the κ-deformed theories. Within the slow-roll approximation, we obtained some the main predictions of the model, as scalar spectral index (ns), tensor to scalar ratio (r), number of e-folds (N) and the local non-Gaussian parameter (fNL). We confront these parameters with the current data of the last mission of Planck satellite, whose results were analysed and published by the Planck Collaboration. We show that this model supports a set of solutions with an exponential approach wider than usual and that its theoretical predictions are compatible with observational data. In particular, it was possible to relieve the tension on r between the value predicted by the usual exponential model from Ratra and Peebles and the value measured by the Planck.

Gravitational dipole analyses with partial-sky coverage data 20m

We can obtain the cosmic growth rate of structures, $f(z)$, when we compare the gravitational acceleration of a galaxy distribution in the local group with its peculiar velocity measured using the earth relative motion with respect to the Cosmic Background Radiation. The quantity $f(z)$, expected to be $f(z) \approx \Omega_{m}(z)^{\gamma}$ in the $\Lambda$CDM model, can distinguish alternatives models of gravity, an important task to understand the nature of dark energy. In this work we study the systematic error when we use a partial full-sky coverage survey in the measure of $f$. For this analysis we produce a set of mock catalogs and calculate for each of it the gravitational acceleration, for the whole and partial sky, when we randomly choose regions in the sky to remove. Our results show a noticeable increase in the uncertainty of the measure of $f$, however, we can say that, considering the density of objects in the catalog, it is possible to study the growth function with partial sky coverage surveys.

Optical properties of atomically thin semiconductors: The role of excitons 20m

Two-dimensional (2D) atom-thick crystals such as graphene, boron-nitrade (BN), transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) and most recently phosphorus allotropes have drawn both experimental and theoretical interest due to their unique electronic and optical properties. For instance, TMDCs possess remarkable properties concerning the tunability of band gap and strong light-matter coupling that are desirable features for optoelectronic applications. Likewise, the phosphorus allotropes (black and blue phosphorus) possess layered-tunable band-gap properties and a peculiar anisotropic crystalline structure, which are important features that can be used in photonics and photovoltaics technologies.
Motivated by this recent findings and considering the individual properties of the materials mentioned above, we carry out density functional theory (DFT) calculations combining with the GW-Bethe-Salpeter (GW-BSE) methodology to study the excitonic, optical properties and the power conversion efficiency of MoTe$_{2}$/InN heterostructures. First, we study the geometric and electronic structure of six heterostructures based on different stacking. We also explore the effects of the tensile strain on engineering the bandgap of the individual monolayers. Secondly, we use the GW-BSE methodology to study the optical spectrum and estimate the power conversion efficiency of the device. Our results indicates that the optical band gap of the heterostructures are in the range of 1.12 to 1.17 eV [1]. For the sake of completeness, the excitonic properties of black/blue phosphorus as a function of the light-polarization are also explored [2]. We hope this work will shed some light in the seeking of designing more efficient photovoltaics devices based on those materials.

Classical and quantum mechanical interpretations of lossless beam splitters 20m

Classical and quantum mechanical models of a beam splitter are addressed, including the cases where there are one or two input source(s) of light resulting in two consequent output beams. In the classical case we invoke the conservation of energy to derive a $2 \times 2$ matrix $M_{bs}$ which transforms the electric fields. In the quantum mechanical case we invoke conservation of probability to show that the transformation operator $\widehat{M}_{bs}$ from the input space to the output space must be unitary. We find that the matrix representation of $\widehat{M}_{bs}$ in the occupation-number space is identical to the classical transformation $M_{bs}$. This formalism is applied to describe the inner workings of a Mach-Zedner interferometer. Additionally, we justify the necessity of the quantum mechanical interpretation by examining strictly quantum mechanical phenomena such as single-photon interference.

Mach-Zehnder interferometer with quantum beamsplitters 30m

Coherent control of single-photon emission, absorption and transport opens promising perspectives for quantum communication and information processing: photons can act as flying quantum bits between distant atomic nodes in a quantum network. A key element of these single-photon networks is the quantum beamsplitter (QBS). The QBS is the most elementary version of a beamsplitter, consisting of a single two-level system coupled to a one-dimensional continuum of electromagnetic modes (as in a one-dimensional waveguide, for instance). The QBS may not only refract and reflect, but also absorb and then reemit a single photon. This raises the question of whether a single-photon pulse, once split by a first QBS, could be made to interfere with a second one.

Here, we propose and theoretically analyze a quantum Mach–Zehnder interferometer (QMZ) as formed by two concatenated QBSs. The distinctive feature of our QMZ is its considerable saturability for a single photon, arising from the broadband nature of the pulse. We show that, depending on the photon pulse shape and detunings with the two QBSs, the interference pattern can either reproduce classical features or reveal rich non-classical behavior, providing a versatile platform for applications in quantum technologies.

Quantum information with photons: fractional topological phases of qudits 30m

Quantum optics and quantum information have experienced spectacular progress in the past three decades, both theoretically and experimentally.
Quantum information protocols and foundations of quantum mechanics have been tested with correlated photons. Qudit states (d-level quantum systems), a generalization of qubits, are discrete quantum states with dimension d > 2. Entangled qudit states proved to be more resistant to noise than qubits which stimulated applications of photonic qudits for quantum communication and tests of fundamentals of quantum physics.
An interesting property of qudits is that two-qudit states develop a fractional topological phase when subjected to cyclic and local unitary operations.

In this presentation, I will describe the photon pair source and briefly discuss the generation of the topological phase. I will show how the two-qudit states are prepared by using the photon paths degrees of freedom and how the fractional topological phases are measured. We used two approaches to measure the fractional topological phase of qudits: interferometry with a modified Sagnac interferometer and the use of a hyper-entangled two-photon source (entanglement in more than one degree of freedom). I will also show recent results that demonstrate the robustness of fractional topological phase in qudits to dephasing noise.

A comparative study of the perovskite YFeO3 10m

A sample of yttrium YFeO3 orthoferrite prepared by the auto-combustion method has been studied. From the hysteresis curve at RT, it was obtained the remanence, coercivity, saturation and antiferromagnetic susceptibility and compared with those obtained with other preparation methods. As a result, these properties have been found to be highly dependent on the method of preparation. Additionally, the relationship between remanence and saturation of single crystals and polycrystalline powder samples is differentiated and in the latter case, this relationship probably describes an asymptotic curve.

Relativistic effects in HgTe and CdTe electronic structures 10m

Quantum spin Hall phase, or also referred as Topological Insulator state, has been obtained in 2007 in a CdTe/HgTe quantum well [1]. These novel state is possible due to the inverted band order near the Fermi energy. These behaviour is originated because there exist a non negligible correlation between valence electrons of the 5d- and 6s-orbital of Hg [2], and relativistic effects [3], specifically spin-orbit coupling [4].

In this wotk, we present the electronic structure of Cadmiun Telluride (CdTe) and Mercury Teluride (HgTe), obtained using the local spin density approximation, including the Hubbard correction (LSDA+U), in the density functional theory (DFT), considering non relativistic, relativistic, and relativistic with spin-orbit coupling effects for each alloy. The results show that relativistic effects reduce the band gap for materials alloys, and inverted band ordering for HgTe is only possibe if spin-orbit copupling is considered.

Temporal variation of soil radon/thoron concentration using passive detecting method in San Miguel district, Lima, Peru 10m

Soil is the main source of radon and thoron due to the uranium and thorium content [1]. Alpha particles emitted in the decay of these natural radioactive elements produce nuclear reactions in the ground, increasing the levels of ionizing radiation. Therefore, measure of soil radon and thoron concentrations is important. Generally, these measurements are made using active systems compound of an air extraction pump with 1-m long steel soil probe and a desiccant [2]. In the present study, continuous monitoring was carried out for two months using pinhole based single entrance twin cup dosimeters [3] inside wells 80 cm deep with respect to ground level. Radon and thoron concentrations were measured in 24 wells located in San Miguel district for periods of two weeks. The results obtained were analyzed with the environmental parameters obtained in the Photovoltaic Research Laboratory - PUCP.

Experimental and simulation study of cosmic muons detected with a water Cherenkov detector of the LAGO collaboration 10m

In the present work we study the secondary cosmic ray flux registered in a water Cherenkov detector (WCD) produced by the interaction of cosmic rays in the atmosphere. The background radiation was characterized in Lima, Peru, at 00 Lat. 00 Long. The detector employed is part of the array of the LAGO collaboration. A secondary trigger is used to filter noise from the electronics in addition to specific processes such as singular photons and thermionic emission.

A study of the muon decay time was performed, as long as the Michel electron spectrum that results from the muons decay process. The LAGO simulations toolkit ARTI was used, that connects CORSIKA to simulate the atmospherics propagation of particles and GEANT 4, for the detector simulation. ARTI was used to estimate and compare the muon flux arriving at a WCD in Lima, and the response of the detector using real data.

Structural and magnetic properties of magnetic nanoparticles 30m

During the past three decades, a great deal of attention has been devoted to the synthesis of nanoparticles: many routes have been developed to prepare well-controlled magnetic nanoparticles and the influence of the different chemical parameters has been studied in depth to achieve high reproducibility. It is clear that the size, morphology, chemical composition, structural and physical properties of nanoparticles are now rather well controlled. Such a strategy allows for an in-depth characterization and better understanding of complex architectures that result from the assembly of magnetic nanoparticles and/or functionalized core-shell nanoparticles and hollow magnetic nanoparticles.
We will show how magnetic nanoparticles such as iron oxides (maghemite and magnetite, and mixtures) can be studied using complementary techniques such as diffraction, microscopy, magnetic measurements and 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry. The variety of nanostructure morphology makes it possible to better understand certain growth mechanisms on the one hand, and certain intrinsic phenomena such as surface and interface effects, exchange bias and the role of dipolar interactions on the other hand.
In addition, the experimental results of structural and magnetic properties are compared to those predicted by some computer models including Monte Carlo, ab initio and molecular dynamics, illustrating in particular the nature and structural and magnetic properties of the surface.

Au-SiO2 Nanoshells operating at the First Biological Window. 30m

Metallic nanoparticles represent one of the most widely used nanostructures in biomedicine. This is due to the easy modification of its architecture tunable to their electrical properties, which are associated to their surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The SPR localizes the collective oscillation of conduction bands electrons, which when optically excited, generates an amplified electromagnetic effect that has led to great applications in biomedicine. Successful biomedical applications based on SPR, required to avoid biological damage triggered by photochemical effect.
Here, hollow Silica-gold nanoshells (Au:SiO2) optimized to absorbed in the first biological spectral window were synthetized. In this study, homogeneously distributed Au:SiO2 nanoshells were obtained, with a hydrodynamic radius of 243 ± 29 nm and an optical absorption from 550 to 900 nm. After 5 and 10 minutes of (850 nm) laser exposure of HeLa Cells incubated with Au:SiO2 PEGylated nanoshells, no significative photochemical damage was observed. These results indicate that these Au:SiO2 nanoshells are promising candidates for bio-applications operating at the first biological window. However, exhaustive cytotoxicity studies are needed.

A fixed point for black hole distributions 30m

Understanding distributions of black holes is crucial to both astrophysics and quantum gravity. Studying astrophysical population statistics has even been suggested as a channel to constrain black hole formation from the quantum vacuum. Here we propose a Gedankenexperiment to show that the non-linear properties of binary mergers (simulated with accurate surrogate models) generate an attractor in the space of distributions. Our results show that the joint distribution of spin magnitude and fractional mass loss evolves to a fixed point, converging in a few generations. The features of this fixed point distribution do not depend on the choice of initial distribution. Since a black hole merger is irreversible it produces entropy - possibly the largest source of entropy in the universe. The fixed-point distributions are neither isothermal nor isentropic, and initially thermodynamic states evolve away from thermality. We finally evaluate the specific entropy production rate per merger from initially thermal and non-thermal distributions, which converges to a constant.

charge quantization in exotic 331 models 30m

The extensions of the Standard Model based on the SU(3)C⊗SU(3)L⊗U(1)X gauge group are known as 331 models. Different properties such as the fermion assignment and the electric charges of the exotic spectrum, which define a particular 331 model, are fixed by a β parameter. In this work, we study the electric charge quantization in two versions of the 331 models, set by the conditions β=1/(33–√) and β=0. In these frameworks, arise exotic particles, for instance, new leptons and gauge bosons with a fractional electric charge. Additionally, depending on the version, quarks with non-standard fractional electric charges or even neutral appear. Considering the definition of electric charge operator as a linear combination of the group generators that annihilates the vacuum, classical constraints from the invariance of the Lagrangian, and gauge and mixed gauge-gravitational anomalies cancellation, the quantization of the electric charge can be verified in both versions.

Analysis of radon time series by means of continuous wavelet transform 10m

        Abstract
The abnormal radon exhalation from the earth crust, as a precursory phenomenon related to seismic events, is an important research topic [1, 2]. The radon exhalation is related to the variability of local meteorological parameters. In the present study, a continuous RTM 2200 / SARAD monitor was used to measure the time series of radon concentration in the soil and meteorological parameters. These measurements were made in 4 wells at EMHU-PUCP for two weeks with 15-minute cycles. The nature of these temporal variations was characterized by means of continuous wavelet transformation (CWT) [3], performing a spectral analysis in the time-frequency domain. Also, a correlation analysis was performed between the different time series. An analysis is made of the potential influence of ambient temperature on radon concentration measurements.

Keywords: Time series; wavelet transform; Radon.

A Ray-Tracing simulation study for the dark matter new generation detector PICO-500 10m

Dark matter remains one of the biggest unresolved problems of physics. All we
know is that it doesn’t emit light and almost doesn’t interact with visible matter, except gravitationally. Calculations suggest that it makes up 83% of the matter in the universe.

By developing and implementing a new generation detector: PICO-500, the PICO Collaboration aims to detect and study its properties. But, before constructing such a big and expensive detector, it’s necessary to ensure that useful images can be obtained from the detector chamber in order to be analyzed.

To accomplish that, simulation studies are performed taking into account all the parameters involved in the experiment. Here we show a simulation study focused on the optical information obtained from the four photo cameras used in the experiment.

        \begin{equation}
        S_{gen} = \frac{Área del horizonte}{4\hbar G_N} + S_{outside}
        \end{equation}

        \begin{equation}
        S_{EE}(A)=-Tr[\rho_A \log{\rho_A}]
        \end{equation}

        \begin{equation}
        S_{EE}(A) = \frac{min Area(\gamma_A)}{4G_N}
        \end{equation}

Optimization of the geometry of inorganic scintillators applied to high energy physics 10m

Scintillators have numerous applications in fundamental research and in for commercial use, including being a common detector for particle physics experiments and the basis for many nuclear medecine instruments. It is a quasi-universal requirement that the light detected in scintillator setups be maximised. Inorganic scintillators will be optimized and characterized by the simulation of several types ($PWO_{4}, ZnWO_{4}, CaWO_{4}, CdWO_{4}, BGO $ and $LSO$) and differents geometries (cylinder and parallelepiped) of scintillators. This simulation will be analyzed in GEANT4 (Geometry ANdTracking), a platform to simulate the passage of particles through matter of photons. Geant4 (GEometry ANd Tracking)

Stability of asymptotically de Sitter and anti-de Sitter black holes in $4D$ regularized Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory 20m

The regularized four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet model has been recently proposed in [D. Glavan and C. Lin, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{124}, 081301 (2020)] whose formulation is different of the Einstein theory, allowing us to bypass the Lovelock theorem. The action is formulated in higher dimensions ($D>4$) by adding the Gauss-Bonnet correction to the conventional Einstein-Hilbert action with a cosmological constant. The four-dimensional spacetime is constructed through dimensional regularization by taking the limit $D→4$. We find explicitly the parametric regions of stability of black holes for the asymptotically flat and (anti-)de Sitter spacetimes by analyzing the time-domain profiles for gravitational perturbations in both vector and scalar channels. In addition to the known eikonal instability we find the instability due to the positive cosmological constant. On the contrary, asymptotically anti-de Sitter black holes have no other instability than the eikonal one.

Interacting Modified Holographic Ricci Dark Energy Scenarios 15m

We perform a Bayesian model selection analysis for interacting scenarios of dark matter and modified holographic Ricci dark energy (MHRDE) with linear interacting terms. We use a combination of some of the latest cosmological data such as type Ia supernovae, cosmic chronometers, cosmic microwave background and baryon acoustic oscillations measurements. We find strong evidence against all the MHRDE interacting scenarios studied with respect to ΛCDM when the full joint analysis is considered.

Oversize of the average prompt neutron multiplicity measured by the double energy method in the symmetric region of thermal neutron-induced fission of 239Pu 20m

Using a Monte Carlo method, the measurement by the double energy technique (2E) of the average prompt neutron multiplicity as a function of the mass of fragments from the thermal neutron-induced fission of 239Pu is simulated. The input data, associated with the masses of complementary primary fragments (A, A'), consist of the yield (Y), the average total kinetic energy ((TKE) ̅) and its standard deviation (σ_TKE), the average prompt neutron multiplicity (ν ̅_s, a sawtooth approach of an experimental curve ν ̅), and the inverse slope of ν(TKE). The output data, associated with the pseudo masses of complementary fragments (µ,µ') calculated with the double energy method, consist of the corresponding to the simulated as measured quantities Y, (TKE) ̅, σ_TKE, N ̅, respectively. In comparison with ν ̅_s, N ̅ and ν ̅ are oversized in the region of light fragment masses near the symmetric fission. To interpret the results, the neighboring masses ratio R(A) =Y(A+1)/ Y(A) and the term F(A)=(1-ν ̅_s (A)/A)/ (1-ν ̅_s (A^' )/A') are defined. It is shown that i) if F>1 the Ν ̅-ν ̅_s and ν ̅-ν ̅_s are correlated with R-1 ii) if F<1 then Ν ̅-ν ̅_s and ν ̅-ν ̅_s are anticorrelated with R-1. It is concluded that the oversize of ν ̅ relative to ν ̅_s is due to the interplay of the prompt neutron emission and the slope of the mass yield curve.

        Modified non-linear Schr\"odinger models, ${\cal C}{\cal P}_s{\cal T}_d$ symmetric $N-$bright solitons and towers of anomalous charges 20m

Modifications of the non-linear Schr\"odinger model (MNLS) $ i \partial_{t} \psi(x,t) + \partial^2_{x} \psi(x,t) - [\frac{\delta V}{\delta |\psi|^2} ] \psi(x,t) = 0,$ where $\psi \in C$ and $V: R_{+} \rightarrow R$, are considered. We show that the quasi-integrable MNLS models possess infinite towers of quasi-conservation laws for soliton-type configurations with a special complex conjugation, shifted parity and delayed time reversion (${\cal C}{\cal P}_s{\cal T}_d$) symmetry. Infinite towers of anomalous charges appear even in the standard NLS model for ${\cal C}{\cal P}_s{\cal T}_d$ invariant $N-$bright solitons. The true conserved charges emerge through some kind of anomaly cancellation mechanism, since a convenient linear combination of the relevant anomalies vanishes.

A Riccati-type pseudo-potential is introduced for a modified AKNS system (MAKNS), which reproduces the MNLS quantities upon a reduction process. Two infinite towers of exact non-local conservation laws are uncovered in this framework.

Our analytical results are supported by numerical simulations of $2-$bright-soliton scatterings with potential $ V = - \frac{ 2\eta}{2+ \epsilon} ( |\psi|^2 )^{2 + \epsilon}, \epsilon \in R, \eta>0$. Our numerical simulations show the elastic scattering of bright solitons for a wide range of values of the set $\{\eta, \epsilon\}$ and a variety of amplitudes and relative velocities. The AKNS-type system is quite ubiquitous, and so, our results may find potential applications in several areas of non-linear physics, such as Bose-Einstein condensation, superconductivity, soliton turbulence and the triality among gauge theories, integrable models and gravity theories.

Magnetic properties of the series YFexCr1-xO3 30m

Due to their interest in both experimental and theoretical study of the structural and electronic properties as multiferroic materials, the compounds YFexCr1-xO3 (x = 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1) were prepared by autocombustion. They were analyzed using techniques that provide information both at the atomic and macroscopic level, including low temperature neutron diffraction, 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometry under external magnetic field and magnetic hysteresis loops. It is concluded that, although these compounds can be structurally described as solid solutions resulting from distorted octahedra of FeO6 and CrO6 supported by an orthorhombic structure, the magnetic properties are not colinear. Indeed, for example, the central compound (x = 0.50) is a canted weak antiferromagnetic (WAF) with a ferromagnetic saturation moment even higher than that of YFeO3. This behavior seems to be linked to the fact that it is a very thermally stable material (the lattice parameters a, b and c do not change when the temperature drops). Moreover, the description of the Mössbauer spectra under applied field gives rise to canted antiferromagnetic structures. These results are very interesting and encourage more work in this system.
